Long dividends are subject to a tax, known as withholding tax. Currently the withholding tax on long positions is 5%.
Using Monday as an example, for SPX500, a dividend of 0.045 represents 0.045 USD per lot of SPX500:
- For long positions, you will receive USD 0.043 per lot. (withholding tax included)
- For short positions, you will be charged USD 0.045 per lot.
Dividends will be reflected in the trading statement through balance adjustment and will be calculated at the following hours:
- Daylight Saving Time – 00:00 GMT+3
- Standard Time – 00:00 GMT+2
If you hold positions beyond these hours on a dividend distribution day, dividend adjustments will be applied.
